Ana ƙara sha'awar nazarin fa'idodin polyphenolic masu wadataccen antioxidant a fannin lafiya. Ana samun su a cikin nau'ikan 'ya'yan itatuwa da kayan lambu da yawa. Lokacin da mutane suka cinye su, antioxidants yana kawar da ƙwayoyin oxidative masu cutarwa waɗanda ke ba da gudummawa ga tsufa da cututtuka na yau da kullun.
Binciken da aka yi a baya kan polyphenols a cikin hibiscus ya nuna cewa suna aiki a matsayin masu hana enzyme na halitta, kamar wasu magungunan hana kiba. Polyphenols suna toshe wani enzyme na narkewar abinci da ake kira lipase. Wannan furotin yana raba kitse zuwa ƙananan adadi don hanji ya iya shanye su. Duk wani kitse da ya wuce kima yana canzawa zuwa ƙwayoyin kitse. Lokacin da wasu abubuwa ke hana lipase, ba za a iya shiga cikin jiki ba, wanda hakan ke barin shi ya ratsa jiki a matsayin sharar gida.
"Saboda waɗannan sinadaran polyphenolic an samo su ne daga tsirrai kuma ana iya cin su, ya kamata a sami raguwar ko babu illa," in ji jagorar marubuciya Manisa Singh, ɗaliba mai digiri na RMIT. Ƙungiyar tana shirin amfani da sinadarin hibiscus phenolic a cikin abinci mai lafiya.
